The Joomla FTP layer is intended for use on shared Linux servers, but you won't need it on our servers.For best security don't enable the Joomla FTP Layer or fill any of the related fields.
If you are on another host and have trouble with file permissions you may need to enable it.
Example: Joomla cannot write to configuration.php when saving Site > Global Configuration.
