Custom buttons and links can be added to the Joomla Administrator home page called the Control Panel.

First surf to the page in the Joomla Administrator that you want to link to.
Copy the link from the browser address bar and paste into a text file (or somewhere) or keep on the clipboard for the moment. It will be used in step 4 below.


1. Go to Extensions > Module Manger
Click the Administator link as shown below.

3. Select Custom HTML

4. In the Details section of the Custom HTML module:
  • Title: enter a title - the option to display the title is non applicable (NA), but a title is required for identification.
  • Enabled: set to Yes
  • Position: cpanel
  • In the text editor a simple text link could be created, or an image could be inserted and a link attached to the image.
    Use a relative link - starting with index.php (leave out http:// and your domain)
  • Click Save or Apply to store you settings.
  • The new module should now appear in the Joomla Administrator Control panel.
    The module display order can be changed in the Administrator section of the Module Manager.
    Use the dropdown filter to select all modules in position cpanel.
    Use the up/down arrows to shift order, or enter new Order numbers and click the save icon at the top of the Order column.joomla-order-save-icon.jpg
