Joomlashack.com has released the JContact extension for Joomla 1.5. 

With iContact, You Can Easily Create, Send, and Track Email Newsletters, RSS Feeds, Auto-responders, and Surveys!

The J!Contact extension uses the iContact API. 

Registering visitors are added automatically to a designated iContact list:
Increase traffic by drawing registered users back to your site through iContact's auto-responder and email newsletter tools.

Non-registering visitors can subscribe themselves to your newsletter and be greeted using their first name:
Joomla collects the full name as a single field, but research shows that email addressed to a first name has a higher response rate.
