Joomla 1.7.4 download is here (but you should probably update to Joomla 2.5)
Note that most users should update their sites to version 2.5.0 instead, which is now released. Version 1.7.4 is only intended for those users who for some reason are unable to update to version 2.5.0.

To update Joomla 1.7.3 to Joomla 2.5.0
! Backup your Joomla files and database before updating
In Joomla Administrator go to Extensions -> Extension Manager -> Update
- Click the Purge Cache button
- Click the Update button
- Select the Joomla 2.5.0 update that appears (checkbox) and click the Update button
- If errors are reported make note of them (copy and paste to a text file) because they are only shown once and could be helpful in troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting Joomla 1.7.3 update to Joomla 2.5.0
- If Administrator Control Panel icons are not arranged properly: Clear browser cache.
- Possible Database Errors: Go to Extensions -> Extensions Manager -> Database and click the Fix button if there are errors reported.
- Joomla 2.5 Text Editor (TinyMCE) Stripping "Read More" button: Go to Site -> Global Configuration an Save.
